Bittman's bread, Bittman's bread, Bittman's bread. All I keep hearing about is Bittman's bread and how good it is, so I went out and bought an enamelled cast iron 5qt. pot from Target, and made one. FANTASTIC! It really is as easy and good as they say, but, and it's a big but, you have to bake it at 450 degrees, and the pot said it's oven safe to 400 degrees. Did it anyway, and the black plastic handle melted a little and became loose on top. I returned the pot to Target and tried another...same deal. I've checked the website for Le creuset and they say the same thing. What do the rest of you folks do with these pots when the recipe calls for a higher temperature than the pot is rated for? Thanks.
