de Buyer Viper V-Blade Mandoline. Anyone have this?

akmike | Nov 1, 201509:18 AM

We already have, and use a food processor and a bunch of good knives. Figured I start out with that, as every other "which mandolin" thread on this site wanders to recommendations for using both. I just want a mandolin.

Been researching these things, and each time I think I land on one to buy, I see mixed reviews. Seems like the perpendicular blade style does not work as well as an angled or V-blade style. Makes sense, seeing how a straight blade will not cut as easy as one at an angle. I don't like cheap plastic things in general. I prefer to invest in quality and buy things once.

I stumbled on this mandoline at Cutlery and More's web site. Appearance wise, it seems to check all the boxes. Not cheap, but not stupid expensive like the Shun model either.

I'm hoping someone might own this, or at least have played with it some.
