De Buyer Mineral B - Seasoning Issue

tdhummel | Aug 13, 201808:19 AM     6

Hi all: so, I'm new to both Chowhound and seasoning, so I hope you'll forgive any glaring errors or gaps in the knowledge base.

I purchased a De Buyer Mineral B country fry pan recently and following the seasoning instructions as given on the De Buyer site (stovetop method). The results seemed sound; the non-stick properties were there and the pan was beginning to take on some color.

I've been cooking in it regularly for a couple of weeks (caveat: all cooking has been meatless), and, again, the pan is working well. The problem is this: the seasoning surface scrapes very easily. I use only wooden utensils and just through basic stirring, etc., there are visible scrapes on the pan surface (pic attached). For the record, after cooking, I'm simply rinsing the pan, wiping out any visible food, drying it completely, oiling the pan before storage.

Is this to be expected? Did I make an error in the seasoning process? Or is there some other issue that I'm overlooking.
