DC hound visiting NYC: choices?

brr | Jan 12, 2005 12:23 PM

This hungry DC hound will be escaping the reinauguration ceremonies and visiting New York Jan 20-23. We'll be travelling with our well-behaved 3 year old, and staying Thurs and Fri in the city and Sat in Queens.

Our hotel is the Grand Hyatt but we're willing to scoot around on the subway.

After a couple of weeks lurking I've discovered you're quite an opinionated bunch, but I've put together a list of places we were thinking of trying. Hopefully all of em are reasonably kid friendly i.e., we don;t want crayons and paper but we don't want to be treated poorly just because we have a little one.

Your comments (be they nasty or nice) are appreciated!

Thurs lunch: The burger place at the Parker Meridien (wifey and offspring LOOOVE burgers)

Thurs dinner: Ottos - wide range of opinion on this place - we'll be eating here on the early side as we are going to a show and given that our bellies may still be full of burger and fries, we may just stick with some cheeses, meats and the highly anticipated gelato.

Fri lunch: Artisinal?? (I love cheese but some of the cityserach reviews for this place are appalling - whats their $20 lunch menu like?). Would I be better just gong to Murrays Cheese shop for cheese and having lunch at Cibo (recommended on board last week - their 26.95 lunch menu looks quite good) instead?

Fri dinner: Kinda open - Grand Sichuan?? anyone have suggestions for good Indian?? or anything else good in the vicinity of the Grand Hyatt??

Sat brunch: 11 Madison Park (is this kid friendly?)

Sat dinner: Sripraprai in Queens (I know this should be on the outer boroughs board but most of my post is Manhattan focused). I read somewhere its closing for kitchen renovations in Jan - is this true?
