A friend of mine and I will be in Rome in early August. We are both in our late twenties, are food lovers and are very open to recommendations of places to go for dinner. I have a handle on spots for snacks and lighter meals during the day, but am bewildered by choices of places for a sit down evening meal. We are happy to spend a bit of money for a good meal, and would like a mix of traditional spots and maybe newer, trendier spots as well. We are staying at the Rose Garden Palace on Via Boncompagni near Villa Borghese, but are happy to travel for a good meal. Are there "essential" restaurants we must visit?
Any guidance is much appreciated!
