Since I had MLK Jr Day off I made a day out of it in SF. Windy & I decided on One Market for DAT 2008 and we're there. She had made reservations using Opentable, she said the earliest they had was 12:15pm but we got there at 11:30am and the hostess said we could dine early..cool.
We didn't get a window table but we weren't too far away from one. She took the comfy looking seat, I took the chair with my back toward the window.
Windy wanted a Diet Coke..$2.50!
So I got the Berry Lemonade after the push from the waiter..I hate paying for drinks & it was $3.95! It was fine, but water is fine too.
Free warm Epi bread & cold butter given after we ordered. All good.
Our DAT meal:
Starters: We both got the Portobello mushroom soup - just ok, soy flan was kinda weird for me, quail egg is runny-not my favorite. Good presentation.
She picked for her entree: Grilled Idaho farmed Trout w/ warm herb vinaigrette. Comes w/ chard & mashed potatoes on the side - separate dish for that.
I got: Angus Tri Tip "Sous Vide" w/ green peppercorn sauce: 5 slices of tri tip, very tender, sauce just ok, didn't eat peppercorns. Also comes w/ a side of chard & mashed potatoes. Good.
She got: Bosc Pear Galette w/ Tahitian vanilla bean ice-cream-I got a taste & thought the pear was ok, don't like puff pastry so skipped that, vanilla bean ice-cream just average.
I got: Chocolate pot de creme verrine-whipped white chocolate, crunchy steusel, candied hazelnuts. It looked great though very average. Chocolate pudding served cold, cookie just ok, only good thing was the candied hazelnuts.
Bathrooms behind the hostess station on the Left. Separate men/women. Women has 4 stalls, was clean when I went in.
I don't like the automatic Gratuity of 18%. Yikes. Our total w/ 2 drinks, 2 DAT, tax & Gratuity was $63.69! Expensive lunch, but worth it for a splurge.
Close to the Ferry Bldg; Embarcadero Bart Station.
