After reading Michael Bauer's rave for this Redwood City spot, I drove down the hill full of expectations that good Italian food had come to my neighborhood. It is, to my knowledge, the best Italian place in Redwood City. However, it certainly is a notch below Il Fornio and about on a par with Piatti in Palo Alto. I found the shrimp appetizer too spicy, the risotto bland, the oso buco good, and the swordfish excellent. The wine list is well done complete with an Italian geography lesson and the glass of Pinot Grigio I had was fine. The two tiny biscotti for $2.75 seemed pricey at best. I guess Michael has come in for his lumps here before so what's another one.
