Finally got to try a pizza from D'Amores last night!
I went to their newest location in Westwood where they've only been open for 5 days.
I had the combination pizza which is sausage, onion, bell pepper, mushroom on a great thin crust. Crispy on the bottom (with cornmeal!) but doughy enough not to be a cracker.
The owners were very nice and they explained that they didn't use a lot of fat and unhealthy ingredients in their food. We told them that we would go eat elsewhere if they kept talking like that! Pork fat rules!!
Jokes aside I couldn't tell the difference in flavor or texture so that's a good thing. Just a great pizza!
We also tried their northern italian style lasagna which uses a light bechamel sauce instead of a tomato based sauce. It was very creamy with lots of meat - delicious!
It's at the site of what used to be the Westwood Bistro (my original destination) at 1077 Broxton avenue in Westwood.
Note: It's just down the street from Stan's so I had my favorite peanut butter and chocolate doughnut for dessert afterwards!
When I go back I want to try their thick crust pizza but can anyone tell me about their thick crust pizza or do you go to D'Amores for the thin crust only?
