i so wanted to love this dish after reading about it on the board time and time again! i got to the daily catch for the first time ever today and couldn't even finish my appetizer portion of the aglio olio squid ink pasta.
part of it was a misunderstanding on my part. i was excited about squid ink *sauce* and did not realize that the pasta itself incorporated the ink. even so, i found the pasta dense and oily and relatively flavorless. salt, pepper, and parmesan helped a bit, but i just ended up pilfering some of the clams in white sauce across the table instead of finishing my own dish.
is this dish normally so quiet and greasy or was i just out of luck today?
p.s. i loved the fried calamari, so i'm not always anti-grease ;)
