Another Cupcake Source

David Kahn | Aug 23, 200409:26 PM

Had breakfast this weekend at Auntie Em's Kitchen (4616 Eagle Rock Blvd., (323) 255-0800). Breakfast was excellent, as usual -- great pancakes, and really nice creamy scrambled eggs. On the way out, we decided to grab a couple of their very nice looking cupcakes to sample latter. Bigger than, and not as expensive as, some other cupcakes I've had recently (Clemintine and Joan's), and I have to say they were really good. I think someone here may have mentioned that Auntie Em's makes good cc's, and if so, thank you! The chocolate was very moist, with good chocolate flavor, a nice dense crumb, and not too sweet. Coconut had a cream cheese frosting, and a great tasting, moist yellow cake. I think Auntie Em's may be one of those places that prepares its food with love; in any event, they are now definitely on my short list of favorite source for cupcakes.
