i posted a while back asking about culver city recs. well here are a few places i've eaten at so far.
el rincon criollo: not bad, not great. unfortunately for them i had eaten at el colmao a couple weeks before so they really couldtn compare. we had a cuban sandwich and a stewed tongue dish.
sandwhih was kinda dry but not bad. the tongue was served in a tomatoey sauce. a little salty. nothing to write home about but good for a neighborhood joint.
govindas at the hare krishna temple (around the corner from india sweets and spices). very tasty veggie buffet style counter. you pay by the pound. had a nice buttery butter nut squash soup. some pasta, some salad. some stewed veggies. nice fresh juice bar.
gaby's mediterranean (so so mediterranean food) i had an issue with management that i wont get into. i had a lamb wrap sandwich. nothing that great. meat was tendony (im chinese so im down with tendon) but overall the flavors were pretty dull. and i felt pretty underwhelmed.
el abajeno: average mexican american food. we got an abanejo burrito which really can feed at least four people. ours came carnitas and we got a lengua tostada which was acutally stewed lengua over chips with beans, rice, shredded iceberg and some salsa.
wouldnt go back.
i've had consistently good indonesian meals at simpang asia. the only thing i was disappointed in was the fried chicken which was pre fried and not crispy and hot as i was hoping.
i've had good meals at rosalinds and merkato in the ethiopian zone.
and had a pretty good meal at metro cafe.
i still wanna check out the cemitas truck, tacomiendo and pueblo viejo for salvadorean.
