Last night, four of us dined on the Cuba Libre Christmas feast. I think it's running until next weekend (check the website). For $29 each, we started with individual appetizer samplers: three slices of pork loin in a spicy marinade, a sun-dried-tomato arepa, a turkey and manchego cheese fritter wrapped in a slice of serrano ham. Then they brought out the family-style platter of roast pernil (fresh ham), turkey, and what looked like half an entire salmon (filleted). Everything was terrific. The fourth quadrant was filled with plantain chips, and they also brought out containers of rice/black bean mix, fried plantains, and yucca, and a wonderful watercress salad with hearts of palm and olives. We couldn't finish it all. Dessert was individual rum cakes topped with a custard and ice cream, surrounded by pieces of almond brittle, and served with Cuban eggnog (rum, egg, milk, coconut milk, and spices). Don't miss this!
