Crummy but Good

johnb | Mar 12, 2003 03:14 PM

I recall someone recently asking what happened to these columns which were in the Post for a while. I was in Barnes and Noble (12th and E) and stumbled on the book "Quest for the Holy Grill" by Donovan Kelly. He is the guy who wrote the columns, and he says he is still looking for these places and asks for others to help. FWIW, the copyright date suggests the book and listings are fairly up to date. He gives the top 50 Crummy but Good places within 100 miles or so of DC (according to him of course). His 10 favorites are Planet Wayside, Barbara Fritchie, Ben's Whole Hog BBQ, Bridge Restaurant, Cafe Monti, Ercilia's, Havabite Eatery, Vienna Inn, and the Waffle Shop.

Just thought you chowhounds would like to know about it.
