Crudo - Great Experience

Went to Crudo last night on Clinton St. While I had heard mixed reviews, I was really looking forward to trying the place. Overall, I was very impressed. The food was wonderful (especially the red snapper ceviche, the hamachi sashimi, and the strange combo of avocado, goat cheese, and grapefruit). My friend and I split the $56 tasting which allowed us to try a taste of everything on the menu. Nothing was bad, although the octopus ceviche was slightly dissappointing. For drinks, we had some excellent mojitos (regular for me and ginger flavored for my friend) and then tried tastes of several wines (excellent dry Riesling was a winner). The best thing about the place was the great service - they were extremely accomodating: my friend wanted to have a smoke, and we were told to go into their "garden" area out back, where they insisted we sit at a table and brought our drinks out to us. When a couple friends stopped by to meet up with us, the hostess was happy to let them sit down with us and just get a drink, even though the place was fairly crowded on a Friday night.

Overall, I was very impressed and would definitely reccomend trying the place. Hopefully, the menu will evolve over time, b/c I've now tried everything :-)
