Creme Cafe Review - D.C.

sunshine | Feb 16, 2006 04:44 PM

Recently had brunch at Creme Cafe on 13th/U Street. It opens at 11 on Saturdays and there were already people lined up to get in to the small space. Unfortunately, the staff was not ready for all of us at once on this day, and service was slow (although very nice and got better as the meal progressed). The good part was the food - chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, crabcakes, roast chicken -- pretty good (not earth shattering) southern homestyle meals at decent prices (range $6.95-$15). For brunch, you can have a bottomless mimosa or bloody mary for $10 (1 glass for $5). I had the chicken and waffles - good salty crispy fried chicken on top of a crunchy/soft waffle with maple syrup - YUM! It's a nice addition to the U street corridor.
