Creamed spinach, again

Not to revisit a contentious topic, but this evening while visiting the rehabbing aunt and trying not to cross Michigan Avenue, we ended up at the Tavern on Rush across from Gibsons (easier to get into than Gene & Georgetti's). Nice steak, wet aged, tender, grilled over maple charcoal. Not bad, not fabulous. Also tried the oysters, a special, and they were downright lousy.

But the sides were pretty good. Excellent garlic mashed potatos and wonderful creamed spinach. Entire leaves in a heavy cream (no thickeners) with a touch of some cheese, perhaps ricotta. Not cooked too long, either, so the effect was spinach in cream, as opposed to the more traditional mashed spinach effect. Arguably the best I have had. And they suggested a nice 1999 Ruffino Chianti Reserva glass with the steak. I need to drink more Chianti. Next time I will go and just have the sides and some wine, or maybe I should reproduce this at home...

Regarding Lawry's - there was a time I liked it very much, but the problem with the place is the damned Seasoned Salt which is used on everything. It gets sort of overwhelming.
