Crawfish - dangerous to eat the heads?

racer x | Oct 24, 201610:09 AM     4

During a recent meal at a restaurant featuring Louisiana regional cuisine, one of my dining companions, who loves crawfish, mentioned that you should never eat the heads of crawfish because it could rarely be poisonous. (Or at least I think they said the head. Maybe it was a different part that I don't recall.)

Is it true that the head (or other part, if it's not the head) should not be eaten for this reason?

And if it is true, is this common knowledge, something that nearly everyone who eats crawfish knows?
