Cozy Interesting Restaurant

Hey there, my girlfriend is visiting from Japan when I asked her what kind of restaurant shed like to try she said any restaurant that its not too pompous yet interesting and cozy with good food and please no Asian food. That was her answer. She is staying in Columbus Circle so any place in the area and Upper West Side work. Thanks!
