Cotan - still awesome (report)!

Muk | Jan 16, 2004 03:13 PM

I just wanted to report that I had another fantastic meal at Cotan in the Village last night. I started with the wasabi shumai (pork dumplings), which were tender and flavorful. For my main course I had salmon, yellow tail, and uni (sea urchin) sushi, as well as an uni roll. Everything was super fresh, melt-in-your-mouth sublime. The uni was so good that I ordered another one for "dessert".

They did not have any daiginjo sakes, so I had a ginjo which was very good. It was well-balanced and paired beautifully with everything that I had.

The total for 5 pieces of sushi, one roll, shumai, and a small bottle of sake was $42 before tip. I was surprised to find the place virtually empty. FYI, Cotan is at 121 West 3rd, between 6th Ave. and McDougal.
