Cosmos-Minnepolis: I liked it, too!

Ten days ago I read Dara's review, two days later came the posting in this site by JmVikmanis. Two reviews so positive… could it be that good? Gotta check it out! So 3 friends, my husband and I went this past Saturday night, and we were absolutely delighted! The food is outstanding (although not all dishes are perfect - I personally think that the baby octopus salad could have been better w/ less tomato sauce, and the pumpkin chevre cheesecake should go to therapy to decide if it wants to be savory or sweet). However, other dishes were just awesome. My husband is so delighted with the foie gras that for the first time EVER he said: "you HAVE to write about this in Chowhound". Our companions agreed, as they devoured their mussels. The halibut was very well prepared, with a crisp “crust” and melt-in-you-mouth flesh. The lamb was SO tender, and so was the duck. But the best thing about Cosmos was the service. By far, the BEST service I’ve ever seen in Minneapolis, especially at a posh place. So prompt, we were never “waiting” for food: everything came at the same time – at the right time; the glasses were always full; the waitress answered all the questions with short but precise answers, and nicely jumped in when we were discussing the location of another restaurant to inform us that the cross-street was not the one we had in mind. She left us all smiling.
Bottom line: we had a great dinner, will definitely go back, and I’m hoping from the bottom of my heart that all other “posh” places in town will send their staff to Cosmos to observe and learn how to best serve their customers … and while they’re there, they can also learn how to prepare a wonderfully Italian espresso!
