Cornwall-on-Hudson newest restaurant

Last night we tried the newest restaurant in Cornwall-on Hudson, The River Bank. The renovated old bank is beautifully done with sophistication yet retaining the interest of the original space. The huge bank safe is in the main dining room. There are only 12 tables and no reservations are taken. The chef/owner was formerly at the North Plank Road Tavern in Newburgh before it was sold (now Beeb's). She had a reputation for fine food there and locals were disappointed when she departed.
River Bank has a small menu. Lunch and dinner menus are the same with daily specials. At dinner the specials were three or four pizzas in addition to the five on the regular menu. My husband had the pizza with chicken and said it was one of the best he had ever had. I had liguine with shrimp, tomato, garlic and spinach. The portion was enough for three. Plenty of very large shrimp and the linguine perfectly cooked. I will enjoy the excellent leftovers!
We already look forward to returning for dinner again this week and have made arrangements for a group lunch next month.
An amusing touch as customers leave. An antique cash register is on the bar near the door. You push the key to open the register and the cash drawer holds gold foil wrapped chocolate coins to take away.
