Corned beef and pastrami temperature

I haven't been to a proper Jewish deli in quite some time, and my memory fails me.

I notice that a lot of Jewish deli menus offer "hot pastrami" and "hot corned beef" sandwiches.

Is this typically the *only* way they serve these sandwiches? Or can you also order them cold, or would you be laughed out of town if you tried?

I'm talking about places like Katz's, 2nd Ave, Sarges and other places who try to do things the traditional way.
