Copperhounds - Cleaning Carbon

For those that do more than braising, poaching or boiling in your cookware......

We've already covered copper polishing so I'm good on that front.

What do you use to clean Carbon off the the usual spots in copper cookware (rivets, handles seams) - aka, I know of many methods to do this in SS, all of which is not safe for copper.

Eh, maybe the CU pieces won't see the sustained heat to generate this, but I'm curious.
