Had a grand meal at a soon-to-be-open gem on Washington. They were doing a special prix fix meal to sponsor the contemporaryartmuseumsaintlouis. The space is lovely- bar, dining area and a well stocked wine store where you can buy the bottle for your dinner at retail price and they will serve it with your dinner for a $8 fee. The another non-food trait is the large outdoor patio(complete with TV?) with fire pit and bar that is at the rear of the place- oh, they have a private dining space in the basement.
The food was great. American with a twist is the billing. The Hors' sampler had good ballance and well developed flavors. The surf and turf my friend had was sublime- beef and crab with just the right seasoning. My duck was perfect- slightly underdone for my taste breast with well cooked leg/thigh meat that allowed me to learn to like the less cooked opton while having what I prefer. Not too sure about the extra crispy veggies- we will se as the place opens and settles in. The dessert sampler was sublime. Hardly a miss step(mini-canolli are though at the best of times) with great flavor and texture sensitivity.
Deffinately worth following thid one once it opens 10/14.
