cool places in DC to amaze Montrealers

I will be in DC for 4 days with my 3 young kids.
We will visit museums, the zoo, etc. We will be looking for cool/good restaurants to eat with our kids in those areas.
But also, one night, we want to go to a fancier place just the grown ups.
I review restaurant for a daily newspaper in my hometown, Montreal. So I am a bit picky...
In general, I love independant restaurants where they focus on good quality (seasonal) ingredients and imaginative recipes. Any kind of cuisine.
And for the grown up dinner, well, I would like a place where the food is as amazing as the wine list and the architecture. Budget: 150 $ per person more or less.
What do you guys think ?
