Would like some suggestions for places in Manhattan that serve good weekday breakfasts . Looking for more than the Greek diner experience. Especially like places that offer: Oatmeal, breakfast specials, eclectic soundtracks, above average coffee, airy/tall ceilings, non white-flour pancakes....
A few favorites:
Barrio-lower east side-high ceilings, organic eggs, real fresh squeezed OJ, $3.75 breakfast special.
Comfort Diner-86/Lex-homemade oatmeal, $4.95 special.
Around the Clock cafe-9th st/2Ave-steamed veggies/beans available w/with breakfast special.
City bakery-18/5 ave-good selection of hot cereal
On the Other hand:
Barney Greengrass-86/Amsterdam-high quality, but overpriced, always feel rushed here.
Popovers-87/Amsterdam-also good quality, but everthing adds up.
Zabar's cafe-80th/Bway-fairly priced counter service, but not a place to linger.
