My house mates have pretty much destroyed all of my cookware. Actually, some of it's M.I.A., so I'm preparing to move out and need to rebuild. I don't have a lot of cash and am looking for advice, is it better to buy piece by piece, or try to get a set (maybe on sale around/after the holidays or online?). I like non-stick (I know, the horror) but lately I've been really into starting things on the stove and finishing them in the oven in my cast iron skillet (which is hidden when not in use, he he.) I would love to have some other pans that are oven-safe.
What do people love/hate/use every day/etc? I don't really use a dishwasher, hand-washable is fine with me.
I live in SF, if any one has any local rec.s for places to pick things up. Thanks.
