Non-Cook: Where to Start?

Mischa988 | Mar 13, 201502:49 AM

Dear ChowHounds,

I've never really cooked as my Partner and I ate out most of the time. However I was diagnosed with MS a few years ago. My condition has worsened and as a result I'm working from home now.

As I have more time and would like to learn how to cook, it would also be nice to prepare something nice for my partner when she gets in from work.

However I have no clue how to cook; I can make great scrambled eggs but that's about it. At the moment we keep little to no food at home and we own next to nothing in terms of kitchen utensils.

Could you provide me with a shopping list of things I need? Food we should keep stocked spices/herbs etc, what recipes would be good for a novice that sort thing, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.

Best Wishes,
