Congee and Boba in.....Glendale?!

Chandavkl | May 29, 2002 08:59 PM

Adhering to my policy of trying any Chinese restaurant I encounter at least once no matter how improbable the chances of it being really good, imagine my surprise when walking into Chang Woo BBQ at the corner of Colorado and Verdugo (1415 E. Colorado), the site of a former Chinese fast food restaurant, and finding an honest to goodness Hong Kong style restaurant. Since I could only order one item for lunch I opted for the sauteed snow pea leaves which was not on the menu, but rather announced on a piece of paper taped to the counter. However, in perusing the menu it contained congee, tapioca drinks, and a number of Chinese food items never seen before in Glendale, including fish maw soup, salt and pepper crab, cuttlefish, squid, ong choy, foochow rice, and much more. Hope they can make a go of it.
