Club Gascon have opened a food shop in Charthouse Street, City of London, just up from Smiths of Smithfields called Comptoir Gascon. I had a look yesterday as I had some time to kill between meetings. It's a beautiful shop with high ceilings, bare brick and massive plate glass windows. Worth a look for the design and architecture alone.
Some of the prices are just silly, £5.00 for a bunch of white asparagus, £4.50 for a bag of sea salt, but they sell great looking foie gras baguettes and black ink rolls with salmon for £2.50.
Other items include fresh foie gras, terrines, bread, cakes and pastries as well as a range of wines from the South West of France and Reidel Sommelier glasses (a snip at £30.00 a throw).
