Just back from Vancouver / Whistler. Some brief comments:
Yew: went here due in part to this board and because it was closer to our hotel than Blue Water Cafe. Really liked our meal. The dungeness crab taco was a killer.
Bel Cafe: Got a link to a best cafe article on this board. Boy does Vancouver have great cafes. We had an afternoon snack here and went back for breakfast (just pastries). All excellent.
Wolf & Hound. Went here due to the response to my request on this board for a place near Cory Weed's (soon to be closed) Jazz Cellar. Fun Irish pub with good food. My Irish onion soup was excellent.
Thierry: Went for lunch (Montreal smoked beef sandwich) and came back again for breakfast. They have some of the best croissants I've had. Go at off hours as it can get crowded.
Wildebeast: Clearly a "happening" type of place. We thought all the food excellent, except the desserts were a bit blah. Almost no discussion here, however. We found the place from Vancouver Magazine, which awarded it the top new restaurant of 2013.
Araxi: very good fine dining.
21 Steps: Kind of blah steak house type of place, although good service and nice atmosphere.
KaZe: very nice sushi spot in our hotel, the Westin. We were the only non-orientals on both occasions we had dinner there.
Thanks to all who helped make the food aspect of our trip so good!
