Columbia Hailed

nickdanger | Jul 26, 2004 05:51 PM

Thanks to all who contributed to my trip to Columbia, SC. Had very good meals at Mr. Friendly's and Garibaldi's in 5 Points, and good drinks at the Liberty Tavern in the Vista. Food was not great, although cheesecake was surprisingly good. What a meat/meet market, with fresh brews and an outdoor scene.
Mr. Friendly's had wine specials, and a very good fried green tomato app (OK I'm from up north, so had to have it)
as well as shrimp and grits. Garibaldi's has a continental/italian menu, with fresh fish and pasta. The grouper was outstanding, as well as their almond cookie, fresh fruit dessert.
Lastly, gumbo at Doc's Gumbo Grille was not particularly good, with too much rice, not enough seafood. Cheap, however.
