Had a lovely brief visit this morning to this under-appreciated Italian market, though David Lebowitz did write about his visit earlier this year. They are getting stocked up for the holidays with candied fruits, stuffed figs and other imported holiday specialties - including many panettones. Their private label version is very good. They are stocking a whole lot of alternative pastas at good prices and have very good frozen peas and faves, nice ceramic cookware, the requisite salt fish, a couple of types of n’duja, corbezzolo and chestnut honies, salted capers in bulk, and many many other items

What I bought - among other items, from their extensive cheese selection, Gorgonzola dolce, scooped from a lovely big wheel, Calabro hand dipped ricotta, a delicious slab of Spanish lardo di bellota iberico, the excellent “home made” sweet soppressata, tiny baby peas from the freezer and, for the first time in NY that I’ve seen, packages of dried pepperoni cruschi, dried sweet peppers, a specialty of Basilicata, just opened, they are very fresh, excellent, can be fried a bit in oil and salted for snacking or used in cooking
