cold foods for the summer!

steph p | Jul 16, 200312:34 AM     17

in the spirit of summer (no ac and 100 degree weather) i think cold drinks, foods, soups, and dessert. just anything that you can't do without during the summer. i'll kick off with my list:

1. cold drinks:
-black currant iced tea (from bamboo tea house in pasadena, brew yourself)
-cold soy milk (yung he dou jiang --- the one on valley, closer to rosemead than to new)
-coconut batidos at that cuban chicken place

2. cold foods
-ceviche (still hunting for good versions, but chowhounds gave me a good start on where to look!
-spicy naeng myun (hodori)
-sesame noodle (i rather like john thorne's version -- so weird since i grew up with this dish)

3. cold soups
-world cafe in santa monica/venice has an asparagus soup that's great

4. dessert
-fosselman's pistachio
-extraordinary desserts' earl grey ice cream (san diego)
-shaved ice with green bean, red bean, and almond tofu
-big stick popsicles and otter pops for nostalgia
-rompope, pepino paletas
