Coffee and/or Quick Lunch on the way to work...

Hi folks,

A two parter question for all you downtown chowhounds today. I walk to and from my home at Adelaide & Sherbourne to my work at Bay & King twice a day (once in the morning and evening, and back and forth at lunch to take my young puppy out for a walk).

So I'm wondering:

1) Can any of you suggest a good place for a coffee to go on the way into work that isn't Starbucks, Second Cup, Tim Hortons, etc (i.e. not a chain). I can walk across either Adelaide or King, or Front if I really had to to get to work, so anything on this path would be helpful. Obviously, Church, Jarvis, or Yonge between these streets would also work.

2) I'd also like to be able to grab a tasty meal to go on the way to or from work at lunchtime, since I don't have a lot of time to mess around after walking the pooch. I know about the sandwich places at the St. Lawrence Market. Any other suggestions? Same boundaries apply.

Thanks very much -- as a newbie to this site, I am very impressed by the knowledge and helpfulness of all the members!
