Another new French restaurant in town, this one is on a side street just off Hollywood Road. Its a small restaurant with a nice classy local feel, its not another link in one of the local concept/chain restaurants, which is really nice.
Cheffed by a chef who is ex Amber there is definitely talent in the kitchen, and even though we went soon after it opened the FOH team is pretty good (I think a touch overstaffed with anxious owners).
The food is nicely modernised classic French, I really enjoyed a slightly deconstructed steak tartare with truffled eggs, and a very good lamb main.
My one gripe was the wine list, I really can't understand why restaurant wine is so expensive given that HK has no tax on wine, and here the bottles of red start at around $600 (US$77). We noticed that most of the other tables were fairly modest in their wine choices - maybe equally price sensitive.
Total bill for two came in at $1,905 (US$245) so not a cheap night out. If the wine was better priced I would be happy to return but at this price point its getting to the multi-starred Michelin level of the Ambers and Caprices (lunch menus) which makes it a stretch.
