Sad, but true. Fortunato, Jennifery Newburry's rustic Italian restaurant, is closing its doors on Saturday, Feb. 28. Chicago Magazine's Morsels provides the details through the below link.
We've been hitting Fortunato over the last year-and-a-half and have always enjoyed its stellar cuisine, attentive service, creative wine list and lively room.
We went there on Valentine's day, enjoyed a wonderful meal of octopus salad, papardelle with pork ragu, hanger steak and a torrone for dessert. In fact, the only disappointment was when our favorite waiter notified us that they were soon closing. At first, I thought he was kidding, but it's true.
Farewell Fortunato ... as we look to locate a new favorite.
