i think this type of pizza--the very floppy crust where half the cheese falls off whether picked up or eaten with fork--must be a brooklyn fetish that just doesn't appeal to me. the fact that one bite contained a fresh basil leaf didn't make up for the fact that there wasn't enough sauce there either.
for sake of science, i had two slices: one artichoke, reheated in oven. artichokes were remarkable--freshly roasted--pizza not. and one plain, straight out of oven from whole pie.
yes it's charming, the tiny, rather filthy old storefront with the herbs growing in the smeary window, but i doubt if i'll go out there again. i quite like sam's pizza and it's got more structural integrity.
