Disclousure: Former Employee of Cliff House(I quit and I am in no way disgruntled)
Went to the Cliff House Friday for some apps and cocktails. Also to scope out the new digs. The place is beautful looking. The steel beams really compliment the wonderful view. Everywhere you turn there is a window. Luckily for us the day held up until we left. As far as the servive goes our cocktail waitress was very nice and some of the old staff was there as well. Now for the food. I order a half dozen oysters. Not told where they were from. They were fairly nice although a bit of shell debris was left. I felt that the cocktail sauce and the mignoitte(too oily) were not the best accompainment. They did not offer lemon with the dish nor did I ask. We ordered two other dishes basically a california roll that had unagi in it, I felt there was too much rice my boyfriend said it was an alright amount. The taste a crab was not very flavorful and the odd thing was that we had to eat the rolls with forks.(If you are serving rolls like this buy some chopsticks) The last dish was a lobster and crab cake, it was the best of the dishes although you couldn't really get a sense of the lobster but the crab was nice. And it had a nice spicness to the sauce. Yes the only reason to go to the Cliff House still may be just for the view.
