Cleo in the 7th: Astonishing food; don't be put off by its being in a palace hotel

Under Mangeur's Rule #2 (#1 being to always report the cost of your meal) to report on great places largely ignored by this site and other media, I wish to report on a wonderful meal at a couple of month's old place called Cleo in the Narcisse Blanc Hotel in the 7th. You may be, like I was, put off that it's in the 7th, in a fancy hotel, with a voiturier (who is actually supernice) and that it looks too good to be affordable. But the reception, meal and details were superb. From a bowl of nuts the likes of which United Airlines has never seen, to a yuge Utah Beach oyster amuse, to thickly sliced daurade to un-BBQ sauce-mucked-up pulled pork to spongecake, all was superior. 3 courses 7 days a week are 38 E, 4=42 E (29 E at lunch on weekdays). Since folks here like Frenchie, Saturne, Yard, Bones, Pan & the Beast, this Canadian chef passed through them all. My bill with 1/2 bottle of wine, no bottled water but a coffee was 54.50 E or 109 E a couple. Price-quality hit of the year maybe. http://johntalbottsparis.typepad.com/...
