Cleaver or knife for winter squash?

Cam14 | Sep 27, 201705:14 PM     33

The 8" Chef's knife often gets stuck when cutting into acorn squash or other hard winter squash. Half the time I end up cooking the squash before cutting it in half. But I prefer to bake it with some butter and maple syrup or brown sugar and not have to deal with the hot squash when it comes out of the oven. I received a large vegetable cleaver, a Winco KC-401, from Amazon today thinking it may improve my track record cutting winter squash. Is there a preferred method for attacking a squash with a cleaver?
