CALLING ALL CHOWHOUNDERS!
The second Houston Chowhounders outing will take place at A Taste of Portugal on Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. Chef and owner Jorge Fife will be serving a specially prepared "chef's selection" dinner, including a wide range of appetizers and entrees reflecting the rich and diverse heritage of Portugese cuisine. I have requested that he include bacalhau, piri piri and my favorite, flaming chorizo. Jorge will charge a flat rate of $20 per person, which will include drinks, appetizers, mains, etc. Jorge is as marvelous a host as he is a cook, and everyone should have a great time. I hope we can see some out-of-town chowhounders come in as well!

Jorge wanted me to mention that everyone is welcome to bring your own wine or other libations (I will probably bring a bottle of Port), and that he has no "corking" fee. Also, check your Houston Chronicle Friday, July 4, as Alison Cook is going to be there tonight to do a full write up for the July 4th edition of the paper.
