A Chowhound in the Chicago 'burbs at Christmas - Pizza, Italian Beef, RIbs...

RSMBob | Nov 30, 200202:08 AM

Hi all, the family and I will make a semi-annual trek to Chicago at Christmas, and Iam always on the prowl for some great pizza (both thin crust and deep dish/stuffed, sausage topping), italian beef and sausage, and if I have the time and appetite, some great ribs. Each year I try to add a couple of new stops to see which make it to the favorites list. I'm partial to the western suburb where I spend most of the time (Downers Grove), but we do make a trek or two downtown (and elsewhere if the opportunity is right).

Listed below are the places I have been to -- the question is -- what places do I need to try to add to "the list"? And as importantly...why? What makes them so good or so special?

Pizza - Home Run Inn, Pizza Capri, Rosati's, Giordano's, Uno/Due, Gino's East, Aurelio's, Edwardo's, COnnie's, Nancy's

Italian Beef/Sausage - Portillo's, Buona, Johnnie's, Al's, Carm's, Mr. Beef

Ribs - The Patio, Robinson's
