Chowfind Schnitzel

Vinnie Vidimangi | Jan 12, 2006 09:56 PM

The recent posts about schnitzel roused a craving for schnitzel. We went to Cosmo last Wednesday; Wednesday is schnitzel night and they run a schnitzel special, choice of veal, chicken or pork, with two sides of your choice, $6.95. This is a real deal because the food was good and portions were generous.

What we had: a large bowl of mushroom soup, shared. In character home cooking, but quite refined, yet tasty. A chicken schnitzel with red cabbage and diced parsley potatoes, veal schnitzel with salad, both schnitzels were very tasty and tender, nicely cooked; a pickling plate (first class beets, and I am Polish); flourless chocolate cake, so sumptious that one portion between us was enough; one coffee; two glasses of wine (one was a tokai furmint (Hungarian) that was good, interesting, went well with the food and was cheap). Hit the spot but not the pocket book: total was $52 including tax.

Nice, sophisticated room, not a Hungarian tavern. we parked in the municipal lot just west.
St.Clair just west of Dufferin
