These are the final details. My apologies to those of you for whom February 11 was a difficult date. I didnt have as much room for flexibility as Id hoped, and this date worked for most of those who responded. If anyone else is interested in joining, theres still plenty of room. Those who have already replied, please re-confirm. Id like to have an accurate head count by next Monday.
After talking with Mike at Delilahs today, Im really excited about this event, and I think he is as well. Hes a very knowledgeable fellow with a particular interest in bourbon and its history. He has picked out a great list of bourbons with an eye toward representing emphasis on different grains in the bourbons and different families of bourbon recipes and distilleries. There will be twelve whiskies, including a rye whiskey and a corn whiskey, I believe. Selections are also, for the most part, things you can actually buy at a liquor store, with a mix of some well-tested brands and some more obscure offerings. Mike is currently writing an article on recent innovations in bourbon production and said he plans to discuss these themes during the course of the tasting.
Ill send out an email next week to those who will be attending.
(Not sure if I need to point this out or not, but this event is not sponsored by Chowhound.com. It is, however, a great opportunity for posters here to meet up, hang out, and drink and learn about bourbon.)
