Six intrepid masala hounds Ivan Stoler from NY, Mel beanbag, Alexandra Singer, Abby, Malik, and I met at Chutney Gourmet Curries in the heart of the Tandoorloin tonight. This was a light turnout for a San Francisco dinner, perhaps the rest of you couldnt miss Trista and Ryans wedding. (ggg)
In search of the best this kitchen has to offer, we cut a wide swathe through the menu. We may have found it in the days special, Chicken Cholley, presented as a specialty of Lahore. Heres the list of what we ordered:
Seekh Kabab (beef)
Tandoori Lamb Chops
Tandoori Fish (catfish)
Chicken Cholley (daily special)
Karayla Gosht (bitter melon and lamb curry)
Palak Aloo Methi (spinach and potatoes with fenugreek)
Kheer Rice Pudding
In the BYO Brews category, we toured
Anderson Valley Hop Ottin IPA
Bear Republic Stout
Prices are still a buck or so lower than the competition and the portion size seems a little bigger. So, it was a huge amount of food for our group and there were ample leftovers.
Tab was $80, including tax, and we added in a $10 tip, for a $15 per person cost. Ill ask the masala hounds to please chime in on their likes and dislikes.
