Wow...what an extravaganza. Dish after dish of appetizing foods until the twenty or so of us were done in by the quantity. Roe P. will post the photographic documentation soon.
There must have been thirty different dishes...from appetizers (tiny smelts with peanuts) to a whole fish served on pickled vegetables to various varieties of tofu to a wide selection of "offal"--tendon, pig skin, etc. We had vegetables, we had pancakes, we had noodles, and we even had duck tongues. Interestingly enough, one of the most memorable (maybe because it was last) was a simple sauteed shredded potato with leeks dish--a nice simple but delicious punctuation to the glorious feast.
