Chola -- great midtown indian

Had to peel off this e-mail straight off after eating my 1st meal from Chola (232 E. 58th St.) -- very good stuff! I got grilled fish with a mild coconut sauce, takeout, they threw in a lot of extras -- the red/black/greens, papadum, lentils, even a little complimentary rice pudding(the rice pudding had a little sticker thanking me for "my continued patronage" - maybe they just confused me for a big). The thing that makes this place is, everything has that extra depth - the fish has maybe 6 spices and other elements going on, the lentils aren't that usual midtown mix that's both too watery (in totality) and too dry (the lentils), and for the rice they add black peppercorns to the usual peas/carrots/cardomon seed mix. looks like they specialize in the southern and bangladeshi cuisines.
