Chloe in Marina Del Rey.....Total dissapointment....

Food Lover | Dec 25, 2003 06:51 PM

Hey Food Lovers,

I had to post this message....I mean I felt totally cheated for the publicity and supposed authenticity this place brags about....
First I'd like to say that being in Los Angeles for 2yrs now, I make it a point to try out at least 1 fine dining or good eats place as I refer to, at least once a month....would have done it more often if I had more money...
Having a very experimental palate and leaning towards the unknown or uncommon is my specialty...
Having grown-up in an European household what is considered exotic or non-palatable in the the U.S is more like my everyday food for survival....
To relate my experience at Chloe- went there for my Birthday, and seeing sweatbreads, I decided to order them-man was I dissapointed, even nauseated I may add, they were cooked in cold oil and pan-the taste was horrible and the first bite being so chewy and hard to swallow I almost hurled...I sent the plate back ....my husband got the veal cheeks which were chewy and the sauce was overpowering the meat...
Thinking the Chef got the hint from our untounced plates, boy were we wrong, my second course was veal kidneys and I had even specified to our server that I want them very rare-the plate I got was anything but...it was overcooked and the knife that was provided was too blunt to cut through....
Not only that our server did not even ask us what we would like to drink-besides the place was not even busy..,we had to actually go up to her to have her get some wine....
Even though they knew it was my birthday there was no gesture or anything sent for our dissapointment not even a small slice of cake with a candle in it....I mean even when I've gone to a Diner-I've got better acknowledgement and respect....
This place, who ever does the marketing for it is a joke-have to say that he/she does not know or even understand good simple food, I guess the person is too overwhelmed by just looking at the plate, let alone than tasting it for it's contents.....
Please people with good taste, I would highly advise you from going to this place...this is the pits...
Nothing more to add....if anyone has an experince to share...i would like to hear of it please...

Thanks.
Sincerely,
Food Lover...
