After this week's chowlunch in Oakland Chinatown, I poked my head in Szechwan Restaurant (366 8th St., Oakland, 510-832-9888). Haven't eaten here before, but it had always intrigued me because of the regional confusion of its name, yet promoting "Mandarin" cuisine. There is a extensive list of breakfast, snack items drawns from Sichuan, Shanghai, and Shandong cooking on the "Special Chinese Brunch" section of the menu, including handpulled noodles (be sure to specify). I was pleased that they'd resisted the urge to call it "dim sum".
Anyway, has anyone tried this place?
